Prayer of Hope

On Saturday March 16 2019, the people of Melbourne (including members of the Muslim community in Melbourne and those from Christchurch) gathered together at the State Library in central Melbourne to do a prayer of hope for the victims of the Christchurch attack and to protest against racism in Australia.

Many people also gathered for a vigil for the victims a few days after the attack on 18 March. Leaders from different faiths and religions came together and offered words of love and support. Strangers hugged each other, and many stood in silence and respect while the Muslim community prayed together.
